November 17, 2016

I. THE ASWNMU open meeting was held in the Miller Library on the campus of Western New Mexico University on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Dylan Kester, ASWNMU Vice President, called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m.

IV. Approval of Agenda: Senator Ellis moved to approve the agenda. The move was seconded by Senator Goodland.

V. Approval of Agenda passed with no objections.

VI. Approval of Minutes: Senator Ellis moved to approve the minutes. The move was seconded by Senator Woods. Minutes were approved with no objections.

VII. Executive Council Reports:
A. President Osuna reports this last two weeks has been crazy. We had our last public meeting in

Deming at our Branch campus and also had bowling night. We have been having free bowling

nights at our Bowling Alley in Silver City. It is from 8 to 11pm. This is our last public meeting

this semester so she wants to thank everyone for coming.

  1. Vice President Kester states we have been working really hard on a fund raiser. We started it lastweek and we will talk about it during the committee reports.
  2. Attorney General Wetton states he has done his office reports and is going to talk about theconstitution with President Osuna.
  3. Government Affairs Director Garcia states she has been working with the proposal for theLobbying trip and the presentation is on December 1st.
  4. Secretary Aker hopes everyone has a good rest of the semesters and has just been working on heroffice hours.
  5. Treasurer Stillman talks about the financial report that you can find out the ASWNMU page. Itwill show the bills on the status on the accounts. You can also email him or go to his office.

VII. District Reports

  1. Senator White has been working with Jennifer Johnston to help her produce a survey to see how the head of each department runs their department.
  2. Senator Ellis will be going to TRC tomorrow to visit and check in. She will also being going to Lordsburg to check in. The Deming students really appreciated the ASWNMU hosting a public meeting. She wants to inform the campus that she will be going to Washington DC in January but does not have exact dates yet.

VIII. Committee Reports
A. Attorney General Wetton mentions again that he has been in contact with President Osuna talking

about the Constitution and how he plans on amending it and the Board of Regents meeting is

December 8th. Hopefully they will finish the process of amending the Agenda before then.
B. Vice President Kester mentions that we started with the matching funds again because we did do

a Krispy Kreme sell to raise money.
C. President Osuna went to the business office to start an account and we already had one that had

$2,000 so we are going to use that money to match the clubs. We raised $520 already from the Krispy Kreme sells.

  1. Senate Bill 45 – ​Allocations of funds not to exceed $50.00 to sponsor Goodie Bags for District 1. Each Senator is making goodie bags for their District. Sponsored by Senator Heinze and seconded by Senator Klaus.
  2. Senate Bill 46 – ​Allocations of funds not to exceed $50 for District 2 Goodie Bags.
  3. Sponsored by Senator Woods and seconded by Senator Granger.
  4. Senate Bill 47 -​ Allocations of funds not to exceed $80.00 to sponsor Goodie Bags for District 3.Sponsored by Senator White and seconded by Senator Goodland.

13. Senate Bill 55 ​- Allocation of funds not to exceed $100.00 for the Art Club Chili Trophy.

  1. Senate Bill 56 ​- Allocation of funds not to exceed $350.00 for Student Senate end of the semesterworkshop. Sponsored by Senator Garcia and seconded by Senator Heinze.
  2. Senate Bill 57 ​- Approval of matching funds not to exceed $73.67 for Student Athletic AdvisoryCommittee. Sponsored by Senator Heinze and seconded by Senator Menezes
  3. Senate Bill 58 ​- Approval of matching funds not to exceed $154.00 for Early ChildhoodAdvocates. Sponsored by Senator Menezes and seconded by Senator White.
  4. Senate Bill 59​ – Approval of matching funds not to exceed $336.26 for Delta Mu Delta.Sponsored by Senator Menezes and seconded by Senator Garcia.
  5. Senate Bill 60 ​- Approval of matching funds not to exceed $340.00 for Native American Club.Sponsored by Senator Menezes and seconded by Senator Goodland.

All bills were passed with no objections by the Senators.

XI. Announcements –

A. Dr. Jose Herrera, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, is stating that he has little response for individuals for completing the online survey. He states maybe on our goodie bags we write a little note that says complete your online surveys.

XII. Adjournment of meeting

This meeting was adjourned at 9:00 am motioned by Senator Ellis and Senator Woods seconded the motion.
