ASWNMU President’s Open Letter to Students

Hello Mustangs!

My name is Claudia Osuna, and I am really excited and honored to be your 2016-2017 ASWNMU president. It is a great pleasure for me to serve such a great student body! First, a little about myself: I am from Mexico, and I came to Western in the spring of 2013 on a tennis scholarship. Coming to Western New Mexico University changed my life completely! I have had many great experiences and have learned so much. Currently, I am a senior, pursuing an accounting major with a minor in marketing.

As your ASWNMU President, I am dedicated and passionate about serving the student body. We, the Associated Students of Western New Mexico University, are a representative organization led by WNMU students. We strive to serve and represent students and their interest, while providing a safe and welcoming experience. Our role is to voice our opinions and advocate for ideas, issues, and concerns that you as students might have. We are divided into three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Each one of them works together to offer you the best college experience you could have. I really encourage every one of you to help Student Government in serving you by giving us your opinions and concerns, so that we can improve the quality of our representation.

Our ASWNMU meetings are open to the public! We welcome any and all students that want to voice their opinions about anything regarding WNMU. We meet every other Thursday at 8:30 am in the Miller Library. If you cannot make it to the meeting, a live stream of the meetings can be found at this link https://wnmu.zoom.us/j/450942407. Our meetings are on YouTube as well, in case you want to catch up and stay informed about anything concerning your student government. You can also go to our website at aswnmu.wnmu.edu and look for information about clubs, financial reports, meeting minutes and much more.

Student Government Offices are located on the third floor of the Student Memorial Center. Drop by anytime and meet your student leaders. If you ever need assistance, have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at student.president@wnmu.edu (575)-538-6377.

Sincerely,

Claudia Osuna Ochoa
