Claudia Osuna Runs for ASWNMU President

The office of President of the ASWNMU holds a truly daunting responsibility. One student that thinks she is up to the job is Claudia Osuna. Claudia originally came from Mazatlán, Mexico and is currently majoring Accounting and minoring in Marketing. Outside of the classroom, Claudia serves as ASWNMU senate floor leader, works as a residence assistant, plays for Tennis Team, and is a member of both Delta Mu Delta and the Marketing Club. As busy as she may seem, Claudia is willing to go the extra mile for her fellow students. She was happy to share some of her plans if elected president.

“I plan on listening to the students.” Claudia started, “My biggest concern is Student life. There’s nothing to do around campus and I want to make a more active and fun experience for current and future students.”

Claudia is not running for president inexperienced however. She feels that she has the winning personality. “A president should be responsible, assertive, organized, really out going, be able to get along with people, and care about others. These are all traits that I have. In Middle School I was the vice president of student government and in High School I was in charge of our graduation committee and that gave me experience of managing people.”

There are other reasons that Claudia feels she is qualified for the office of president. “I know now to be a good leader. I know how make people listen to me. My personality is a good fit to being president because I’m out going and energetic. I can transmit that energy  to other people and motivate them.” She went on to say, “If I am committed to something I will put all my effort into making it happen.”

In addition to taking an active role in the WNMU community, Claudia is very supportive of the WNMU community. “I attend the guest lectures whenever I have a chance. I also like to attend all the home games that I can and I go to library forums. I also like to go to all the student life events like home coming and I always want to be involved.”

However Claudia would also like to see the various campus clubs and organizations more involved. “The Marketing Club is seems to be the most active club on campus. It is a great club and really adds to our college life. We need to promote and help all the clubs and organizations that add to our campus and not just focus on student government.”

The office of president may hold awesome responsibilities but there is also a lot to gain as well.

“I hope that build good relationships with my fellow students,” Claudia says, “I look forward to get to know more people if elected. There is also the satisfaction of seeing my efforts get rewarded by helping the student body.”

A reminder for everyone; you can cast your vote starting Wednesday, April 13th on Mustang Express and lasting through Friday the 15th.
