Kinesiology Professor Hopes To Start New Cycling Club

WNMU is welcoming a new cycling club organized and sponsored by former professional cyclist and current Kinesiology professor, Garrett Peltonen. “We live in a great area for cycling and bike riding. In fact, the university could use a cycling club,” said Peltonen.

Peltonen mentioned how he is coordinating this club along with Kathy Whiteman, Director of the WNMU outdoor program. The cycling club expects to start off in the Fall of 2020.

For individuals who want to join, it is a great opportunity to get out, explore the area, and be active – which is what kinesiology is all about; promoting exercise and health. As for individuals who wish to compete in the future, there are mountain bike seasons in the Fall and road bike seasons in the Spring. Peltonen is very motivated to encourage as many students as possible who would like to join the new club. It is available to any and all students, beginners and even those who are advanced.
For further information, please contact Garrett Peltonen, PhD. at Garrett.Peltonen@wnmu.edu. His office is also located in the Phelps Dodge Building Room 133.
