President’s Chamber Music Series Features Pianist George Winston

Silver City, NM- The Grammy-award winning artist George Winston played to a full house in Light Hall, showcasing his significant talents on the piano. Winston is a renowned pianist that has been playing for over 40 years, and has released ten solo albums throughout his career. He is most famously known for his recording of “The Velveteen Rabbit,” that includes a narration by none other than multiple award-winning actress Meryl Streep.

The Grant County Community Food Pantry was also in attendance of the event last night with a food drive. They also had a table with posters of Winston’s album covers and a selection of his albums that the artist donated personally. All of the proceeds went to the Food Pantry. This was the second concert in the President’s Chamber Music Series that is currently taking place all season long on campus. The outcome for this event was overwhelmingly positive, with the performance being nothing short of magnificence.

Winston’s performance was brought to the university by AMP Concerts, WNMU Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Western Institute for Life-Long Learning (WILL) program. The next concert in the President’s Chamber Music Series will be on March 21 with the La Catrina String Quartet.
