Vladimir Gnilozubov Runs for ASWNMU Treasurer

Any treasurer needs to be responsible, trustworthy, and have a good knowledge of finances. This is especially true for ASWMNU Treasurer seeing how the handling and distribution of funds impact the student body. Vladimir (Vlad) Gnilozubov thinks he is the right man for the job. Vlad came to WNMU via a tennis scholarship from Central Asian country of Kazakhstan. He is currently majoring in accounting and minoring in marketing. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Vlad is a member of the Tennis Team and a math tutor for his fellow students.  Vlad’s deep interest in numbers and accounting is part of why he thinks he is qualified to be ASWNMU Treasurer.

“Treasurer is meant for an accounting.” Vlad said, “All the money goes through the accounting process and I am an Accounting Major. I like accounting, I like numbers, and I like to discover mistakes and search for solutions for those problems.”

Vlad had very specific goals he wanted to accomplish if elected to the office of treasurer.  These are goals that Vlad hopes will improve Western. “I want to make sure that the finances are in a good position. I want to ensure there are no losses and that the balances are positive.  I would make sure transactions are right and that funds are equally spread out through all the departments.”

Besides accounting and numbers, Vlad likes to attend the campus events. “I go to all the sporting events I can. I have a deep interest in sports because I’ve been an athlete since I was two years old. I also like to attend the business guest lectures and the school dances and parties.”

One thing that Vlad thinks makes him a good fit for treasurer is his work ethic and general enjoyment of the work. “I am highly motivated to learn and improve my knowledge and experiences. I am at the beginning of my career and that makes me highly motivated and willing to work hard. Part of my character is working hard. I will do everything to ensure the best results.”

When it comes to campus clubs and organizations, there is one specific club that Vladimir admires. “I really like the marketing club. It’s a really good club but no one knows about it. Marketing Club should be better promoted campus wide.”

There is a lot to gain from the office of Treasurer and Vlad hopes to capitalize on the experience. “For me, this would be new experience as an accountant. This is real world experience and I will be able to go in to any big corporation. My experiences will help me achieve my future goals.”
