WNMU Homecoming Parade

On Saturday morning, WNMU and Silver City community united to enjoy this year’s Homecoming Parade. The parade started in Downtown Silver City and ended at the end of College Avenue. There were nineteen entries to this year’s parade. There was a contest for the best floats for the following categories:

  • Best Overall (Sweepstakes Award)
  • Best Community Entry
  • Best Club or Department

The winners were selected based on the Homecoming theme: Cosmic Mustangs.

The Best Overall award went to the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Their decorations included a cosmic galaxy and a space disco party. There was a DJ, a disco ball, and students dancing to the music. The Best Community Award went to WNM Communications for including purple and gold decorations to support the football team. They also had a football helmet prop on their float. The Best Club or Department award went to the Student Nursing Association. They won this award because of their “Guardians of the Galaxy” float. They had characters from the movie like Quill, Gamora, and Baby Groot.
