Deming,NM – the Deming Branch of Western New Mexico University welcomes a new science professor this year. Dr. Paula Gentry is now teaching Chemistry, Biology and Anatomy & Physiology courses, full-time at the WNMU Deming Branch.
Dr. Gentry graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1996 with a PhD in Animal Science and spent time at the University of Arizona as a Research scientist as well as teaching classes part-time. She eventually moved to Silver City, spending ten years doing clinical work first, at Hidalgo Medical Services and later at Silver Health Care, before eventually taking on a teaching position at Western.
Gentry first taught at Deming part-time last semester, but has now taken over the full-time position. She was enthusiastic about her new position, stating: “I’m excited to be here and I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know the students.” She went on to say that she “hopes to give students a good foundation in chemistry, biology and A and P for either their future careers or simply for whatever paths their lives might take.”
