On Monday, October 22, students gathered to compete in Cupcake Wars, hosted by the Department of Student Life. The event was to test students on creativity and their piping skills to decorate a cupcake. There were three rounds where students showed their talents for this competition, which were Color, Theme, and Decoration.
The Color round was all about demonstrating creativity using candy and frosting of one color. Students needed to pick a color and put as much of it on their cupcake as possible. Ten students participated in this round. The winner of this round was, basketball player, Amarion Cash for his all blue alien.
The second round was Theme. The cupcake needed to represent a theme of choice and students needed to sell it to the judges. The winner of this round was WNMU cheerleader, Alize Romero for her Camping Theme cupcake. Her cupcake had a grill with burgers and a shishkabob. She utilized the entire plate adding a lake with fish and a campground. The campground had a fire and logs with gummy bears enjoying the fire.
The final round was Decoration. For this round, students needed to decorate their cupcakes to defeat the others. The winner of this round was Kassandra Segura, a student from Deming. She created a house from the future on the Mars planet. She used multiple cupcakes, stacked to make it seem as if they were tall buildings. She had doors, windows, and a satellite for television.
