LA JOLLA, Calif. – Four Western New Mexico University cross country runners again took to the track this past weekend when they competed in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.
On the women’s side, Aimme Apodaca (El Paso, TX/Eastwood) led the Lady Mustangs coming in 15th in the 5,000-meter run coming in with a time of 19:21.57. Janice Chacon (Gallina, NM/Coronado) was right behind Apodaca with a time of 19:49.91 which placed her in 17th, but more importantly it was her personal best time in the 5,000.
On the men’s side, Enrique Jimenez (El Paso, TX) came in ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:18.57. Jose Rojas (Nogales, AZ) grabbed a time of 16:00.53 to come in 18th. Both Jimenez and Rojas set personal best times in the 5,000.
