Silver City, NM- The 5th Annual Hoops 4 Hope took place today in the IM Gym of the P.E. Complex building at WNMU. This event brings a large amount of the community, including those with mental and physical disabilities, to students on campus and offers a unique opportunity for them to interact with one another.
Abraham Villarreal, the Director of Communications for the school, has been in charge of this event for five consecutive years, and said, “Everyone always seems to enjoy themselves, so that’s a nice thing to have.”
There were plenty of activities and sports for participants and students to be involved with each other such as, basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, and even blowing bubbles. Halfway through the event there was even time for a dance break where participants danced along to the Cha-Cha Slide, the Wobble, and the Cupid Shuffle. There were smiles everywhere as all those in the crowded gym took part in this inspiring event that invited those attending to let loose and have fun.
Every participant received a teal shirt advertising the event and a free pizza dinner from Domino’s. Unique Nutrition was also available at this event selling their Herbalife shakes for those who wanted to opt for a healthier option.
