Hello Everyone!
This week has marked the start of a new school year, with many of our previous readers returning to the classroom. It also marks the dawn of a next step or something like that for our incoming Freshmen. This introduction is for them.
First of all, welcome. Congratulations on starting college and excellent choice in picking Western. My name is Eric Lowe and I am the Editor. The Mustang has been part of WNMU history for years, beginning as a newspaper. This version of the student newspaper was launched in December of 2014 and has endured through many ups and downs as part of the university ever since.
On this site, themustang.wnmu.edu, you will find coverage of school events such as Homecoming and Great Race, features on WNMU students and alumni, up-to-date coverage on our football, basketball, volleyball and and softball teams, and stories from throughout the Southern New Mexico area.
We are also always open to submissions from any and all students interested in getting into the publishing field. Budding photographers and journalists are welcome.
I’ll be at the ASWNMU Open House tomorrow at 12pm to meet with anyone interested in learning more about the publication or possibly working with us.
