Silver City, NM- The end of the semester is rapidly approaching and tension is at it’s highest. Some students will be walking across the stage at the fine arts center next week, receiving their hard-earned degrees. Others will be staying up all night in hopes of completing all of the semester’s assignments and acing their final exams. Fortunately, the senators of the Associated Students of Western New Mexico University have a plan to relieve at least some of the stress.
Each of the ten Student Senators will be supplying the students of their districts with goodie bags in hopes of encouraging students to hang in there. These goodie bags will contain a variety of sweets, including fun size candy bars, as well as inspirational quotes, according to Senate Secretary Linzy Granger. The bags will also have messages reminding students to complete their end-of-the-semester course evaluations.
“We want to encourage students to the survey that is located on Mustang Express,” Granger said. “It’s a great way to express students’ opinions and to be heard.”
The bills for the goodie bags were passed on Thursday, November 17, by the members of student government. Other end-of-the-semester celebrations in the works are an ASWNMU sponsored barbecue for the School of Business, and of course Fall commencement, which will be held on Friday, December 9 at 3pm.
