Great Race 48: Bomb Squad takes the Winning Title.

Silver City, NM- Saturday April 18, Great Race week came to an end on Saturday with the kart race. Students and community members cheered on the teams participating in the race in hopes that they would win. This years winning team was Bomb Squad. The kart race consisted of the teams driving around the surrounding streets of Western New Mexico University and also taking a plunge in a mud pit, then with team members soaked in mud and sweat, they still had to race to get to the finish line.

Western New Mexico University student and Bomb Squad team member, Glenn Ochoa said “This is my third year in the great race. It was definitely a fun experience with my fellow students. It was one week full of shenanigans.” Western New University student Anna Tiurina said “I like that more people were participating this year in the race. It was fun being with everyone. I liked the competitive atmosphere and excitement at WNMU this week.” After the race students were able to continue to celebrate at the Great Race festival and then at Masquerade dance that followed that evening.
