Women’s Golf Opens Augustana Spring Fling

First Round Results

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Playing two tournaments this week, the Western New Mexico University women’s golf team went from Arizona to California and opened the first round of the Augustana Spring Fling Thursday in 11th at the par 72, 5,901 yard Classic Club course.

The Lady Mustangs fired a 367, three-shots back of the University of Sioux Falls in 10th. Oklahoma Christian leads the 13-team field with a 316. They also have the top individual in Anna Arrese who carded a 74 to lead the field by four.

Cheyenne Molina (Deming, NM/Deming HS) leads the way for WNMU as she opened with an 88 to sit in a tie for 36th. Mary Driscol (Glendale, AZ/Kellis HS) is right behind with an 89 that has her in a tie for 38th. Bobbi Pierson (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS) is in a tie for 55th with a 94, while Adrianna Grijalva (Tucson, AZ/Ironwood HS) is just two-strokes back of her with a 96 to put her in 61st. Rounding out the golfers for WNMU, Jessica Henderson (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo HS) is in 65th with a 100.

The Lady Mustangs will conclude the Augustana Spring Fling today.
