Construction Crew on Western New Mexico Campus Discovers “Rare” Fossil

Silver City, NM – New Mexico is among one of the greatest sources for fossil finds and WNMU’s campus is proud to accommodate such an important piece of history. Buried underneath the road, a new species of dinosaur has been found in Silver City, New Mexico near one of the construction sites on campus taking place on College Ave by Light Hall.

While working on the roadway, drainage, and beautification, the Silver City construction crew stumbled upon what they first thought was a chicken wing, but upon closer examination, they came to realize that the bone was part of an even bigger fossil. Not wanting to alarm the general public over their discovery, the construction crew called the archeological specialists and they were scheduled to arrive on Friday, March 27 when the university was closed. At the end of the day, the archeologist extracted a 40-foot-long skull belonging to a never before seen Jurassic giant. Due to the discovery taking place on campus, archeologist and researchers agreed to name the new giant, “Mustangus Magnum Grandis” or Big Big Mustang for short.

The fossil is to be displayed at the Smithsonian Institution on January 2019.

Editor’s Note: This is a satirical April Fool’s Day article. It would be pretty cool to find a fossil though.
