Football Signs 35 Recruits For 2015

SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University football team announced the signings of 35 players to join the team for the 2015 season as announced by head coach Adam Clark. The list includes 23 players from California, four from New Mexico, three from Texas, three from Hawaii, one from Arizona and one from Nevada.

Christian Steele, RB/CB, 5-11, 185, Fontana, CA/Jurupa Hills High
CIF Champion, All-League, All-Area, Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.

Justin Huff, RB, 5-10, 200, Downey, CA/Downey High
Senior year rushed for 1,382 yards and 17 total touchdowns. He was named 2012 All-State, Offensive CIF Player of the Year, League Offensive MVP and First-Team All-League.

Joshua Ford, RB/FS, 5-10, 166, Compton, CA/Dominguez High
Named to the All-League as a free safety and All-CIF as a defensive back. During his senior year tallied 27 tackles and two interceptions.

Cavin Roberson, QB, 5-11, 150, Bayard, NM/Cobre High
Local product Roberson was named to the All-South, All-District, All-State and won the Sportsmanship Award. Team was state runner-ups this past year.

Tariq Myricks, TE/DE, 6-3, 245, Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda High
He was a two-year varsity captain, played three years on varsity and earned Baseline League honorable mention accolades.

Brennen Miano, OLB, 6-1, 245, Fontana, CA/Summit High
He was named to the First-Team All-Sunkist League both junior and senior seasons. Named the Sunkist League Defensive MVP and was also honored for his classroom work being selected to the All-Sunkist League Academic awards.

Nigel Rabb, RB, 6-0, 165, El Centro, CA/Southwest High
He was the team MVP in 2014, Offensive Player of the Year in 2013 and voted the Best Back in 2012.

He collected Second-Team Trinity League, First-Team OC Register, MD Linebacker of the Year.

Jacob Whitmer, WR/TE, 6-6, 210, Moreno Valley, CA/Canyon Springs High
During his senior season caught 50 passes for 810 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named First-Team All-League in 2014 and then a Scholar-Athlete in both 2013 and 2014. He was named to the Second-Team All-League in 2013.

First-Team All-Conference wide receiver and defensive back. He was also named Second-Team athlete.

Two years straight named to the All-League Team. He was also named to the All-CIF, overall MVP and two-years Second-Team All-League.

Henry “Tre” Norman, TE/DE, 6-3, 204, Fontana, CA/Henry J. Kaiser High
During his senior season he caught five passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. He was named an All-American at the prep football camp, Second-Team All-League as a tight end and in 2012 team was CIF champs. Also had strong basketball and track accolades, for basketball All-League First-Team Kiwanis Tournament All-Tournament all-star and Defensive League MVP. For track, All-CIF 400-meter preliminary qualifier.

Nick Hamilton, DB, 6-0, 188, El Paso, TX/Eastlake High
During his senior season posted 75 total tackles, 49 solo, along with a sack and four interceptions. He was named to the First-Team All-District and Second-Team All-City.

Helped lead team to unbeaten league season and state final berth his senior season. He was named the MIL Offensive Player of the Year. He was named to the First-Team All-State team.

Bryson Hughes, DB, 6-1, 200, Kapolei, HI/Kapolei High
During senior season came away with 25 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
