“SWOT” Assessment Lets Student Voices Be Heard

Silver City, NM- Students are encouraged to take the “SWOT” test from the WNMU Quality Planning Council or QPC. SWOT is a business term for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and gives students the chance to give their assessment of Western New Mexico University.

While students often take smaller assessments, such as course evaluations, the SWOT test is given every five years in order to see which direction the university is taking and show the Board of Regents what is and isn’t going well for students.

“We want student involvement and we should all care enough to protect the future of the university,” says Tim Stillman, the President of the Associated Students. “It doesn’t take long to do and it will do a lot to better our university.” Stillman encourages students to be completely honest when taking the exam and ensured the paper that it is completely anonymous.

The assessment is hosted by Survey Monkey, making it easy to use and links to the SWOT test can be found through both Mustang Express and Canvas.
