The People’s Procession Hopes to Bring Unity and Love to Silver City

Silver City, NM- At noon on January 21st, the People’s Procession will walk across Silver City. The goal of the event, organized by Jim McIntosh and the People’s Procession Organizers, is to take a stand for diversity, compassion and justice, in a show of unity.

The procession will start at La Capilla at 1pm and will travel through the heart of Silver City to Gough Park. People are invited to join the procession at La Capilla, or on the way to the park. McIntosh so asks that participants create signs and banners to walk with. Creative expression is encouraged, with the event featuring art and music.

The goal of the procession is to show unity while also celebrating diversity and compassion. McIntosh tells participants that the parade will be kept peaceful and principled, but should there be trouble, they can count on having a police escort and parade marshals within the procession.

The procession will culminate with a rally in Gough Park, which will feature music and speakers.

The event starts at La Capilla at 12pm, with the March starting at 1pm. The route will go down S. Arizona St., N. Bullard St., and N. Pope St. People of all ages are invited to join.
